It's 2006 again!!!
It is the season to savour the greatest show on Earth. An estimated 3 billion people will tune in to watch the football showcase whivh takes place every 4 years. This time the host is Germany.
How will it affect us??
- Sleepy employees
- Low labour productivity during the day
- Higher food and drinks consumption ( Mamak stalls will fl0urish)
- Less traffic congestion
- Less night activities (cos' all the time will be spent in front of the TV)
- Higher sales of certain goods and services
- Lower sales of certain goods and services

Demand of which goods and services will rise/fall during the period?Supply of which goods and services will rise/fall during the period?
How can we relate to the change in 'quantity demanded' and change in 'demand'?

How will it affect a student?
-Sleepy students
-Students under performance during the period.
-Higher coffee consumption (to make us keep awake during the match, after a long tired day in school)
-"Less traffic congestion" i dun think so...since the match is in early morning.
-Less time for study ( coz all time infront of the TV)
During the period, i believe the demand for trendy clothes will decrease, while the demand for football jersey all anything about football will increase.
lastly, if u wanna get more world cup news or result... feel free to visit www.soccerview.net to check out the world cup topic.

Yes, you are right.
Students (football fans and non-football fans) will be affected.
Other than sleeping habits, students also might find the mamak stalls at night and early mornings packed with people.
Electricity consumption will be higher.Less traffic congestion in the morning..possible if people take leave to watch or people will spend their morning hours sleeping instead of going out resulting in less vehicles on the road.
U r right again.
Sports attire shops will likely to have brisk business in selling jerseys whereas shops selling trendy clothes might see a fall in their sales.(Substitute goods)
Demand for Complements like beers, junk food, pop corn, coffee (very important),will be higher. What else will be higher??
more ppl will chose to watch football than going to college.
coz college is "their" opportunity cost
both quantity demanded and demand will be affected.
due to the world cup season, even if the price does not change(remains constant), demand for soccer goodies/mamak beverages will still rise.
but since it's the world cup season, the price for those goods will certainly shoot up and this will affect the quantity demanded.
so both are affected, am i right?

Yes, nicely put. You have understood the topic very well.
The demand for soccer goodies will tend to rise because of the rise in the demand. As a result, the equilibrium price will tend to rise as well.
Both are affected but not simultaneously, one after another. First, it is the rise in demand, then after the increase in equilibrium price, quantity demanded will tend to increase.

Yes, the opportunity cost can come in many forms..including attending classes. But watching football will also entail one more opportunity cost, you know what? Your sleeping time!!!
